I'm thrilled to have placed in the Southern Writer's Magazine Short Story Contest for the second year in a row. Nothing gives me such a thrill as seeing my words in print.

Awesome story - sad beyond belief, well-written, heartbreaking. Her focusing on that pimple sounds crazy, and yet it adds to the poignancy of the piece. Congrats, and next year, your face will be on the front page of that magazine. If you happen to have a pimple they can simply airbrush it away.
